General Advice

It's strongly recommended to get the latest drivers for your hardware before playing Girlvania. While your hardware may meet the system requirements, using outdated drivers may prevent Girlvania from working properly.

What are drivers for?

Drivers are software provided to you by the manufacturer of your hardware that let other programs know how the hardware works. The most important ones for 3D graphics programs are the video drivers.
You can get the drivers for the main video hardware manufacturers from their websites. If you want to know your Operating System, video card name and manufacturer:
  1. Run the "DirectX Diagnostic Tool":
    1. Click on the Windows "Start" button and either click on the "Search" field or choose "Run" depending on which shows up on your menu.
    2. In that box, type "dxdiag" and press the enter key. You can choose "No" when you are asked if you want DirectX to gather additional "WHQL" related info.
  2. The tool will start on the System tab. Check the System Information box for the Operating System
  3. Switch to the Display tab. In the upper left corner is a box named Device. The first three lines are the Name, Manufacturer, and Chip Type of your video hardware.
  4. Click "Exit" in the lower right hand corner of the window to close the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
Important: We assume no responsibility for the effects that changing the drivers for your hardware may have on your system. It is your responsibility to follow the instructions provided by the hardware manufacturer to ensure the proper installation of updated drivers.

What will the charge on my bank account or billing statement be labeled?

The charge will appear on your billing statement as "INFO.BMTMICRO.COM".

Once purchased, where can I download Girlvania from?

A confirmation email containing a link and an Access Key will be sent to you.
  1. Click the link to download the Girlvania Installer.
  2. If your web browser shows you the option to "Open" or "Run" the file, do it. Otherwise, you must save the file in any folder and then run the file by clicking its icon.
  3. Follow the instructions and run Girlvania when the installation finishes.
  4. In the Girlvania Manager, click the "Enter Key" button and enter the Access Key when asked. Girlvania will be automatically downloaded and installed.
  5. A Girlvania icon should be placed on your desktop and "Start" menu. You can click it to play Girlvania whenever you want.

Can I download Girlvania through a proxy server?

Yes. If you connect to the internet through a proxy server, Girlvania will automatically use the proxy settings of Internet Explorer. However, if for some reason this doesn't work for you, you can manually configure Girlvania to connect to your proxy server (just run Girlvania and click "Settings").

I get a connection error message after entering my Access Key.

Girlvania needs an Internet connection to be downloaded and installed. Ensure that no firewall or similar security device is preventing Girlvania from making requests to the Internet.

My Access Key doesn't work

  1. Please make sure you have entered your Access Key correctly. Please note that your Access Key contains both letters and numbers. We recommend that you copy the Access Key from the email confirmation and paste it into the appropriate field.
  2. If it still doesn't work, please contact us and provide the email address you gave at purchase, the first part of your Access Key, and the exact contents and title of the error message.

My PC runs Girlvania very slowly.

A low frame rate is usually caused by a slow graphics card (GPU). Not every GPU is capable of the maximum image quality at full frame rate.
  1. For a better frame rate, you can lower GPU requirements by changing in-game settings (upper right corner of the screen during game play):
    1. Lowering the "3D Resolution" setting.
    2. Using a lower "Screen resolution" setting (inferior desktop integration).
    3. Setting the "Screen resolution" to "Windowed" and reducing the window size (good desktop integration, but not full screen).
  2. Also, disabling the "Light bloom" option (lower left corner of the screen during game play) may improve the performance.
Sometimes laptops use power saving plans to conserve battery power, which unfortunately lower the performance of your CPU and GPU. You can alter this setting in the "Power Options" of your computer's "Control Panel".

How can I obtain the maximum graphics quality?

By default, the resolution of the 3D graphics is set to 1080px. If your screen allows a higher resolution, and if your PC runs Girlvania at a good frame rate, you can try to set the "3D Resolution" in-game setting (upper right corner of the screen during game play) to "Max".

This will change the game resolution to match your current desktop resolution, and will make the graphics appear much more clear. However, if your screen has a very high definition, this may impact the performance greatly. If the game becomes unusable, you can revert to a lower "3D Resolution", or you can set a lower "Screen resolution" as described in the previous question.

You can smooth the jagged edges of the 3D graphics by enabling the "Anti-aliasing" in-game setting.

Interface elements (texts, buttons) are too big or small.

You can change the interface size from the in-game settings: "User interface size".
You can also change the interface size at any moment by using the key combinations ctrl++ and ctrl+-.

I am a user of "Girlvania: Summer Lust", and after entering the Access Key of the Expansion Pack the program closes and nothing happens.

Older versions of Girlvania may fail to update on some systems. If Girlvania closes after entering the Access Key and downloading some data, uninstall your currently installed version of Girlvania (remember to uncheck "Girlvania saved data" in the uninstaller if you want to keep your game data), and install the latest one following the instructions provided in the Girlvania purchase confirmation email. Once installed, enter the Access Key of the Expansion Pack again.
